Request for Help: How to Export Tumblr Posts to WordPress? or Vice Versa

July 8th, 2010 View Comments

NewImage.jpg

As an effort to consolidate blogs, I’ve decided to merge both Heavytext To Redleader.Tumblr together. Although I’ve made a strong effort over the years to keep silly and serious content apart…I’ve realized…I have but so many serious things to say. And as the floodgates were opened once I want to transfer either to Tumblr or to WordPress the mass amount of posts I’ve accrued.

I’ve spent hours searching and have come up with not a single positive result. Although the following have proven useful tools for others…They have both failed for me. Perhaps you, the Internet, may be able to help.

Omnifocus in the Spirit of Helvetica

Now to get the obvious out of the way. I understand that my todos aren’t structured in perfect GTD format. Actually, most of the time they’re pretty close. But here’s the problem, currently in ye old Syracuse we are experiencing an awful mid-winter shit storm. I’m allowed to be messy. =)

Second, I’m a law student. It says nothing about my character or fitness that I have to obtain a criminal record tomorrow. I actually do this all the time for people. Third, I’m aware its Helvetica Neue and not the original. And now with the post…

ReTweet: How To Sync Omnifocus with WebDAV for Free

(As an aside…going this route allowed me to completely remove MobileMe from my life and save a hundred bucks a year.)

How To Sync Omni Focus with WebDAV for Free: “

OK, here’s the play-by-play to get Omni-Focus to synch automatically between your computer and your phone. Takes ~10 to 15 minutes, plus the time you’ll spend waiting for confirmation emails from a service called ‘swissdisk.’

1. Go to: http://swissdisk.com
2. Sign up for a free account, which is a little hidden. First go to ‘Signup’ in the top menu bar. Then scroll down and click the ‘free 50 megs’ option:

Asus 1005HA Hackintosh Help! Need a Tutorial!

February 1st, 2010 View Comments

Untitled.jpeg

I purchased an Asus EEE 1005HA awhile back and felt inclined to try to install OSX, leopard or snow leopard it doesn’t matter.

It has been a exhausting trying to get this damn thing to run the new OS. Most tutorials out there seem to skip alot of steps for the novice. Below are the best, or at least appear to be the most thorough, I have been able to find. They haven’t worked for me. It never boots!?!

Are there tutorials I can kind of port over for the 1005HA? Like the 1000HE and how if you don’t mind me asking?

Wakoopa? Why not?

Apparently I’m an enthusiast? As the sort of geek who is always looking for the next cool app, I’ve been been trying the social network of Wakoopa. Essentially you can rate applications and based on the usage of those on the network Wakoopa will recommend software. Feel free to friend me and let’s try it out together!

Wakoopa also follows your usasge through a menubar app. “Did you know people browse 7 times longer with Firefox than Internet Explorer?” Apparently that’s what their

records show.

Help Me! Quicksilver is so slow with Snow Leopard!

Since my upgrade I’ve been having the worst experience with Quicksilver. I’ve updated as recommended on the compatibility thread on the Google Code page, but it’s awful now.

Launching anything now takes a few seconds for it to even come up and if I use a custom search it’s even worse. That which made Quicksilver my number one go-to app is gone to me. Come back Quickilver =(

I’ve considered changing to other launchers(Video), but I’m having a tough time finding an appropriate replacement. Butler’s learning curve is too high and stressful to start learning. Launchbar doesn’t seem to do enough. And even so goes for Spotlight.

I’ve got the Fever and the only cure is more feeds!

UPDATE: Major Complaint! When you get up to say 400+ feeds it gets ass fuck slow coming off your server. Especially, on Bluehost. I’m not sure what my plan is with them, but it’s not the highest. I don’t really need the bandwidth…no one reads my blog ;( Otherwise I still like it. Thursday; August 27, 2009

For the longest time now the only fathomable approach to handling RSS feed overload has been to preen and prune away our feeds to the essentials. In many cases this syndrome kills the little blogs from ever making an impact on your aggregator. But now we’ve got a real thinker tackling the project. Patent that shit brother! We’ve got the Fever at Heavytext.

Using a Second Blog as a Digital Archive? Brilliant!

I know what you’re thinking…”He doesn’t even post to this blog.” Just give me a second to explain.

Since the dawn of the Internet I’ve been passed dozens of links. From Dancing Bananas to Guys giving Free Hugs, and I, in turn, have sent out my share. But after that first connection and dispersal, I will likely never come across that hilarious Star Wars reference again. These links get lost all the time in your inbox of Chat logs and whenever you actually want to spread the viral media around a little bit..well..you can’t find it.

Starting Lawschool with Leopard? App and setup suggestions for 1Ls

I was a little inspired by Merlin Mann’s run through of his desktop and thought I might do one of my own. Perhaps in a series of steps. So here is a brief intro to my desktop and the apps I use just on the surface. A way of passive information flow, granted the setup I may have isn’t for everyone, it might be for you with some tweaks.

Some Link Love to get you going: Weatherdock, Icalviewer, Spirited Away, IstatMenu, MenuCalendar Clock.

Money Saving Tip #1: Scrap Cable and Get Netflix

June 23rd, 2009 View Comments

The gift of Netflix keeps on giving.

My mother spends roughly 60 bucks a month on cable for her weekly tryst with ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ and so she can watch a movie every so often.

In my mind that doesn’t equate to me the 60 dollars, especially in such a penny pinching time.

Solution:

I’ve been wanting to tout how freakin’ awesome my Roku Netflix Playerexperience has been and how valuable the service can be for the penniless movie buff.

Songbird: An Apology….Thanks for the Mac Extensions and more

An open apology goes to the Songbird Community for looking out for me. You haven’t wronged me. I was foolish to toss aside such a project that so early in its development actually carries a lot of the needs that say…Itunes would do for software user.

Integrating Facebook: Apps, Scripts and Services

July 4th, 2008 View Comments

Since I’ve found myself wasting entirely too much time…at work..at school..and well just about everywhere else on Facebook, I thought I’d compile a list of tools and gimmicks that can help you enjoy and perhaps abuse everyone’s favorite social networking site(not Myspace). Now by no means am I trying to dwarf Mashable’s 150+ List, but rather mention those that I actually use as opposed to just listing ones that exist.
