Facebook: Rebuilt

July 22nd, 2008

Facebook 2.0.jpg

All things grow and evolve. Even Facebook. Check out their new vision.

Pros

  1. Easier access to ‘add photos
  2. No digging through photo albums it’s now right in your Home Page

  3. Inclusion of Mini-Feed into the Wall
  4. Larger pictures and feed items altogether. Now clearly the major focus of the Home Page. The new wall allows for dynamic stalking by manipulating the types of info you can see. ‘Posts by X’, ‘Posts by others’.

  5. Profile Tabs
  6. Now profiles open directly to the wall and ‘Photos’, ‘Apps’, and ‘Info’ are all individual tabs. So you have to be determined to stalk. Many people will not be happy about this. Apps will likely get hit the hardest and potentially lose a lot of their viral quality since now they are hidden in a dashboardesque tab.

Cons

  1. More Space for ads
  2. Lots of empty space with potential for Facebook to sel you more stuff you don’t care about.

  3. Kind of Ugly
  4. Feels more like Myspace than the sleek old Facebook we all know and love. Minus the Ben Affleck wallpaper of course.

As I investigate, I’m bound to have a few more thoughts, but keep up with official Facebook updates here
