I love science because it never fails to surprise me. The kooks in their labs are always coming up with something or another that’s not a flying car or teleportation device, but that is still quite impressive. So here’s one i have a hard time believing in. There is now an iphone app that helps you lose weight through subliminal messaging. (red rum) I’m giving out a challenge to Lazy Diet users throughout the interwebs..If you’ve tried this give us a shout out or a comment at Heavytext and tell us of your experience, because the claims are kind of outrageous on the face of it all…
“This application is created to produce a subliminal effect on our brain by means of a special message, or wave inducing HGH (human growth hormone) generation and therefore muscles build-up. As our body needs more energy to increase muscles, it burns up calories and you start to lose weight. Use Lazy Diet every morning and evening to lose weight and always feel fit. It actually works even when you’re not using it!”
A brief search of the Internet shows other crackpots trying to make audio waves that help you lose weight. Now nerds have no reason to ever leave their mother’s basements…ever. Another search mentions a comparison to anabolic steroids. Apple can’t knowingly put an app in their store that hurts people, right? But they can place one in the AppStore that alters your brain waves to produce more hormones?
Most mentions I’ve found are just direct copy/pastes of the company’s press release/itunes store description. So I don’t think anyone with an opinion has really used this thing yet.
So, put your health on the line and subject yourself to the Heavytext Lazy Diet Challenge! Give us your thoughts! We have evidence that suggests you may want to consider it. =)

I got this app 5 weeks ago. I was somewhat skeptical about the claims but I figured I’d give it a shot. Twice a day I sit in my chair and listen to my playlist or the “pure sound”. I have not changed my diet in any way and I have continued my regular exercise routine. I weighed myself when I started using it and in 5 weeks I have lost 12 pounds. I have to admit I was quite surprised with the results. I had noticed that my pants were getting looser but I am amazed and quite happy with the weight loss. Is this a fluke? Maybe, but I have a history of having difficulty with weight loss. I will post again in another few weeks to see if this continues.
What was your weight originally?
Do you have an exercise or diet routine you're complementing the app with?
hey guys, i started it today. I will let you know in couple weeks, but i gotta say. I don't exercise and i just make sure i don't eat over 2000 cals a day, sometimes 1500, sometimes 1700. Since I am in a time in my life, where i am inbetween jobs (hopefully not anymore in two weeks), I am sedantary and right now I am not losing or gaining. Let's see if this thing works.
@oneredleader- Didn’t your mom teach you that you don’t ask a lady her weight or age? Lol. Let’s just say I have quite a bit of weight to lose and I have lost a good amount already but had become very frustrated with the “plateau” stage I had been in for over 6 months so I gave up on the South Beach diet. I try to keep my calorie intake around 1700/day and I do have a regular 5 day a week exercise routine at home that uses 3lb hand weights. I had been doing this for 6 months and had still not lost any weight (but was happy with having a healthier life style) until I added the Lazy diet app. I lost another 3 lbs in the last 4 weeks for a total of 15 lbs in 9 weeks. I am very happy with the slow, steady weight loss that my doctor says is the healthiest, most permanent way to lose wt. The only “side effect” I have with the app, besides the wt loss, is I get very warm when I use it-sitting perfectly still in my chair!
I do apologize for being so rude, but this is in the name of SCIENCE!
Thanks for the honest and keep us updated
=)
Any other criticisms that you find other than the heat wave?
